Who is Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, the new Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion?

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may Allah protect and preserve him, issued a Royal Decree reshuffling the cabinet of the Council of Ministers, which included the appointment of Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri as Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. The newly appointed minister is a economic figure in the Sultanate of Oman. He previously served as CEO of Jabreen Capital and as deputy chairman of Ahli Bank. He has also held board memberships in several major companies, including Oman International Development and Investment Company (OMINVEST), National Life and General Insurance Company, Dhofar Power Company, and International General Insurance Holding Company. Al Jabri has held several senior leadership roles across local economic and financial institutions. He served as Financial Controller between 2011 and 2012, Investment Manager at the former Oman Investment Fund, and held several positions at the former Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company, including Financial Controller from 2008 to 2011 and Financial Services Manager from 2005 to 2008. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Central Bank of Oman as a Financial Analyst from 2002 to 2005, and as a Settlement Officer from 1998 to 2001. The new minister holds strong academic qualifications, including a Master of Business Administration obtained in 2005 from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences from the University of Akron in the United States in 1997, and a Certified Public Accountant qualification earned in 2000 from the University of Chicago.
