North Al Sharqiyah Governorate recorded significant growth in the number of commercial registrations during 2025, with 1,665 new registrations compared to 1,330 in 2024, representing a growth rate of 25.2 percent. The cumulative number of commercial registrations reached 19,996 by the end of 2025.
Abdulaziz bin Nassib Al Araimi, Director of the Department of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, confirmed that the economic indicators recorded during 2025 reflect the growing confidence of entrepreneurs and investors in the governorate's business environment. He pointed out that the notable increase in the number of commercial registrations and the activity in the contracting sector reflect the rapid development taking place in the governorate's districts.
He added that the department continues its efforts to streamline procedures, enhance digital transformation, and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which contributes to attracting more quality investments and achieving the goals of sustainable economic development.
At the governorate level, Bidiyah topped the list with 531 new commercial registrations in 2025, followed by Ibra with 298, Al Mudhaibi with 289, Al Qabil with 286, and Sinaw with 179. Wadi Bani Khalid recorded 47 registrations, and Dima Wa Al Taiyyin with 35.
Regarding commercial licenses, the number of completed commercial licenses in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in 2025 reached approximately 11,050, compared to 13,447 in 2024. The cumulative number of commercial licenses by the end of 2025 reached approximately 34,865.
The number of completed automatic licenses in 2025 reached approximately 13,385, compared to 16,150 in 2024, representing a decrease of 17.1 percent. The cumulative total reached 43,731 licenses, reflecting the continued use of digital services to facilitate economic activities.
The construction contracting sector, specifically general construction of residential and non-residential buildings, topped the list of most licensed activities in the governorate in 2025, with 1,169 licenses issued, compared to 412 in 2024, representing a growth rate of 183.7 percent. The cumulative total for this sector reached 2,162 licenses, indicating the growing urban development and construction projects in the governorate's districts.
On the industrial front, the governorate registered 1,780 industrial licenses during 2025, distributed across its various districts, bringing the cumulative total to 7,726 industrial licenses. This reflects the governorate's focus on supporting productive activities and industries related to building materials and handicrafts, in addition to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Regarding foreign investment and completed investment licenses, the number of new foreign investment registrations during 2025 reached approximately 28, bringing the cumulative total to 668 by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, the number of investment licenses issued during the same year reached 40, bringing the cumulative total to 394 investment licenses.
North Al Sharqiyah Governorate continues to strengthen its economic presence, recording remarkable growth in the number of commercial registrations and related activities, reflecting the improvement in the business environment and the growth of investment initiatives in its various states, and confirming its progress towards establishing a diversified economic environment that contributes to strengthening its role within the economic development system in the Sultanate of Oman.
