The Oman Business Platform continues to solidify its position as a key digital gateway for the investment and business environment in the Sultanate of Oman, driven by the strategic direction of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion towards streamlining procedures and achieving comprehensive digital transformation.

The latest statistical data issued by the Ministry’s Information, Data and Statistics Department for the first quarter of 2026 revealed a significant shift in investor behavior towards adopting modern technologies.

Hamid bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, Assistant Director of the Auditors Department and a member of the Digital Transformation Team at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, explained that, thanks to the efforts of the team’s specialists, the data correction service and the commercial registration transfer service via visual documentation were launched on the Oman Business Platform application. In addition, several improvements were made to the obligations register as part of developing digital services, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the user experience.

He noted that the improvements included adding the merger option as a new procedure within the service pathway, along with setting a 30-day period for objecting to merger requests, starting from the date of the announcement. Final approval procedures for the request will be completed after the objection period expires.

He emphasized that these updates are part of the Ministry's efforts to streamline procedures, enhance the efficiency of digital services, and improve the user experience, thereby contributing to a more conducive business environment and improved services for investors and business owners.

Aisha bint Abdullah Al-Wadadi, a systems analyst and member of the Ministry's digital transformation team, affirmed that this radical transformation and the continued growth in reliance on the "self-service channel" of the Oman Business Platform truly embodies the success of the Ministry's strategic vision to simplify services and facilitate procedures. She added that it clearly reflects the high level of awareness and increasing confidence among investors in the digital ecosystem. She stated that the platform is no longer merely a tool for registering and amending records, but has become a logistical partner that facilitates trade and ensures product quality. This motivates us to move forward in establishing an attractive and innovative investment environment that enhances the Sultanate of Oman's economic competitiveness and aligns perfectly with the ambitious goals of Oman Vision 2040.

According to the data released, the "Self-Service" channel on the Oman Business Platform attracted the largest number of completed transactions during the first quarter of this year, recording 38,551 transactions, representing a 1.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

This growth will bring the total cumulative balance of transactions completed through the Self-Service portal alone to 1,158,500 since its launch. This clearly reflects investors' awareness and high level of confidence in completing their business transactions independently, without needing to visit institutions or use intermediaries.

The statistical report also revealed a sharp and unprecedented decline in reliance on traditional channels. The number of transactions completed through the Ministry's front offices decreased by a record 86.3%, registering only 2,029 transactions during the first quarter of 2026, compared to 14,773 transactions recorded in the first quarter of last year.

The Ministry's regional directorates and departments also witnessed a similar decline in the number of transactions, dropping by 47.5 percent from 2,440 transactions in 2025 to only 1,282 in the current quarter. This underscores the streamlined procedures offered by the self-service platform and the continued confidence users have in it.

The total number of transactions completed through all platform registration channels during the first quarter of this year remained stable at 62,605, bringing the cumulative total of transactions completed through the Oman Business Platform since its launch to 3,094,300.

Fatima bint Salem Al-Musharfi, a systems analyst and member of the Ministry's digital transformation team, emphasized that the platform's logistical and service role extends beyond simply registering and amending commercial records. It also simplifies and facilitates trade and imports, and ensures product quality in the Omani market through the "Conformity Certificates" service, which processed 1,202 certificates during the first quarter of 2026.

The platform demonstrated high operational efficiency in handling various transactions, with cosmetic conformity certificates topping the list at 413, followed by toys at 217, and lead-acid car batteries at 179. Low-voltage electrical equipment and devices also saw significant growth of 35.1 percent, reaching 127 certifications through the platform, compared to 94 during the same period last year.

These integrated digital indicators underscore the success of the Sultanate of Oman's strategic vision for automating government services. The cumulative and quarterly figures demonstrate that the Oman Business Platform has successfully reshaped the relationship between investors and the economic system. The platform's self-service and digital channels have become the primary destination for conducting investment and commercial transactions easily and securely. This practically reflects the efforts made to enhance the competitiveness of the Omani business environment in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
